The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation is committed to planting 1 million trees by 2026 through the Mom’s Garden Project. It’s estimated that one mature tree can absorb anywhere from 22 to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide every year. By planting 1 million trees, WeLoveU aims to help achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and create a sustainable world to keep the Earth green.

The Meaning Behind Mom’s Garden Project

Remember when you may have helped and cared for plants in your mother’s garden? In 2022, WeLoveU began spreading that small yet impactful activity beyond our backyards to schools, workplaces, communities, and more.

Our Goal & How to Participate

In 2023, WeLoveU’s tree planting goal is 155,000 trees, equivalent to absorbing 50,000 pounds of carbon dioxide yearly.

Planting trees is even more fun when you’re doing it with others! Groups are encouraged to come together to plant trees. The WeLoveU Foundation is open to discussing tree-planting opportunities with companies to meet the goal. Please email development@weloveuusa.org with your inquiry.

Trees & Carbon Neutrality

Trees offer many environmental benefits:

Improve air quality

  • CO2 absorption and O2 production
  • Fine dust absorption, etc.

Prevent natural disasters

  • Soil erosion prevention
  • Flood and drought damage reduction

Climate mitigation

  • Help reduce hot temperatures by exhaling water vapor (Trees are like a giant air conditioner!)

Biodiversity

  • Trees become a home for animals and growing species

The benefits of trees go beyond the environment. Read a list from the Bowling Green Community to learn how trees benefit us in other ways!

What’s 2050 Carbon Neutrality?

Limiting the global temperature increase would significantly reduce harm to biodiversity, health, livelihoods, and food security. There are growing international efforts to reach net-zero carbon dioxide emissions — the main contributor to global warming — by absorbing the same amount emitted by 2050. Therefore, by planting enough trees to absorb the carbon dioxide emitted can lead to carbon neutrality.
