Keep Going & Keep Track

Kevin Hatcher-Puryear, regional manager of Compel Fitness, described the importance of accountability, goals, confidence, consistency, and keeping things simple. He advocates tracking progress in an app or journal, planning meals, and weighing food. “Start stacking small victories, and they will turn into larger ones,” said Kevin. Laura Ash, virtual head trainer, emphasized making small changes first rather than bigger ones. “Pick something you can do forever and then build upon it,” Laura said. She continued, “If it is a drastic change, you’re probably not going to stick to it.”

Supplements & Food Shopping Tips

A head trainer at Compel Fitness, Lauren Fisher, mentioned going back to the basics while explaining supplementing your diet. She explained what supplements are, why one would take them, and the different types of supplements. Following Ms. Fisher was Alexandra Sablan, a virtual coach at Compel Fitness. She shared how to find healthy yet affordable food at the supermarket and mindful tips to stay away from junk food aisles. Ms. Sablan recommends starting in the produce section and filling your shopping cart with in-season fruits and vegetables to snack on. She shared that a sure way to stay on track while food shopping is to make a list and stick to it.

Make Your Goals SMART

Lastly, WeLoveU welcomed Compel Fitness’s Senior Director, Darius Jones. He explained that your goals should be SMART — a popular acronym many may have learned growing up. “SMART” is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relatable, and Time-bound. When making health and fitness goals, keeping them SMART is key. Afterward, the evening discussion with Compel Fitness wrapped up with remarks from Mr. Hatcher-Puryear and Mr. Jones.
