Inbox Sweep Challenge
Challenge: Delete 50 emails
Purpose: One email contributes 4 grams of CO2.[1] By deleting at least 50 emails, we can delete almost 200 grams of carbon. Reduce your carbon footprint this month with a push of a button.
- Take a screenshot of your inbox before deleting emails
- Delete emails
- Take a screenshot after cleaning up your inbox
- Write a few words about how you feel participating in the challenge
- Email the two screenshots, your statement, and the country you’re from to cleanaction@intlweloveu.org

Walk & Ride Challenge
Challenge: Walk or ride a bicycle instead of driving distances less than 2.5 miles at least once a week
Purpose: Reduce carbon emissions by walking or cycling.
If 45% of all travel less than 4 miles were completed by walking or cycling instead of driving, carbon emissions would decrease by 264 million pounds in one year. [1]
- Walk or ride a bicycle less than 2.5 miles at least once a week
- Snap a selfie or take a screenshot of your route.
- Post your photo(s) to Instagram. In your caption, include your country and how you feel participating in the challenge or email the photo and caption to cleanaction@intlweloveu.org

Recycling Challenge
Challenge: Separate your recyclables like paper, plastic, and aluminum from waste materials and discard them properly.
Purpose: By recycling for one month, there is potential to reduce 16 pounds of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to planting almost 1.5 trees.

Pull the Plug Challenge
Challenge: Unplug home appliances when not in use.
Purpose: By unplugging electric appliances when not in use for one month, one person can reduce 1,050 grams of carbon dioxide.

Plogging Challenge
Challenge: Pick up litter when you’re walking, working out, or enjoying a picnic.
Purpose: By picking up trash and litter when you’re out every day for one month, one person can reduce 150 grams of carbon dioxide.

Plastic Upcycling Challenge
Challenge: Reuse two pounds of plastic waste to make a new product
Purpose: By upcycling two pounds of plastic into a new item, we can reduce nearly 1.8 pounds of carbon dioxide.
- Snap a photo of your upcycled creation.

BeBRAVE (Bring Reusables Always for Visits Everywhere) Challenge
Challenge: Bring reusable containers at least four times in July when shopping at supermarkets or eating out instead of using disposables.
Purpose: We can reduce half a pound of carbon dioxide by using reusable containers four times a month.

- Snap a photo or record a video (less than 15 seconds) using reusable containers.

Summer Vacation Clean Action Challenge
Challenge: Practice one clean action of the nine listed above
Purpose: We can reduce about one pound of carbon dioxide by practicing all nine clean actions.
Before going on your trip:
- Unplug unused appliances
- Check your car’s tire pressure, if applicable.
While traveling:
- Use public transportation, if applicable.
- Avoid overpacking with unnecessary belongings
At your destination:
- Use reusable bags or utensils
- Eat all your food to avoid food waste
- Pick up litter while walking or jogging (Remember our plogging challenge?)
- Recycle
- Keep the indoor temperature around 78°F
How to participate? It’s simple!

TayoTayo* Challenge
*Tayo is a Korean word that means to sit on or transport.
Challenge: Carpool or use public transportation at least once when commuting or traveling long distances.
Purpose: We can reduce about 20 lbs. of carbon dioxide by switching to public transportation or carpooling.

Empty Your Plate Challenge
Challenge: Eat all the food on your plate, and if you have leftovers, make sure to store them and eat them later!

Stairsday Challenge
Challenge: Use stairs instead of elevators at least four times a month. Going up or down four floors or more is counted as one time.
Purpose: We can each reduce carbon dioxide when we switch from elevators to stairs. It’s also better for our health!
