Cleaner City, Cleaner World!
On Sunday, January 27, 2019, more than 50 volunteers from various backgrounds joined together to clean up North King Street in Hampton, Virginia. In this worldwide effort to raise awareness about environmental protection, volunteers targeted a one-mile stretch along North King Street.
The start of every year is full of vitality, new opportunities, and most commonly—resolutions. It’s the same case for the International WeLoveU Foundation East Coast Region. In 2019, WeLoveU is planning and mapping out fresh and new ways to positively impact the global family. In spite of new ideas, there’s nothing like WeLoveU’s roots of carrying out volunteer service.
The volunteers working joyfully cleaned the area thoroughly and collected more than 200 bags of trash. The debris collected at this year’s cleanup ranged from items like bottles and mattresses to old tires and file cabinets, just to name a few. The total estimated weight of the debris from the cleaning frenzy is more than 7,000 pounds.
One Step at a Time
This cleanup was in partnership with the Hampton Clean City Commission and the Hampton Police Department. A local news station also supported the team by broadcasting WeLoveU’s efforts. By working with local agencies, WeLoveU can have better insight into the needs of the community. As a result, volunteers can work towards the same goal and work in unity. All the participants hope to inspire neighbors and families locally and globally to make any and every effort to maintain a cleaner city and overall—a cleaner world.
A cleanup of this size may be seen as small compared to the vast amount of land there is to clean. However, to WeLoveU volunteer’s, they’re motivated to help even in the slightest way.
Through these efforts, they’re working towards environmental protection in five main areas: clean water, oxygen, region, life, and descendants. These components make up the Clean WORLD Movement that WeLoveU has been working on for many years. This movement also works towards fulfilling the SDGs, specifically Climate Action, Life Below Water, and Life on Land.

I am originally from Hampton, VA and have seen this city grow in so many ways. I am truly move to see how much of an impact the WeLoveU Foundation is making to make the community clean and have so many of the youth involved.
As an active volunteer I am very thankful that WeLoveU is both global and local so that I in such a small city I can make a difference in this vast world of ours with efforts to unify all people by doing good deeds. I anticipate to what the next event will be in Virginia.
I am so moved through the We Love You Foundation. It is not easy cleaning a dirty place as such, but the members didn’t think of the condition but only the result of a clean environment!

I have seen the volunteer work the WeLoveU Foundation has done and it’s genuine and the smiles are sincere on each of the volunteers’ faces. It’s a great feeling to know that love for communities/societies is not lost and humanity can be restored.

I agree with Jeanne this is needed in all parts of the world imagine what a difference it would make! Just the sight of less pollution already makes you feel revived but imagine how it also helps the ecosystem. Hope there’s a cleanup in my area soon I can join.
