Thursday, August 24, 2023, marked a heartwarming chapter in the journey of the International WeLoveU Foundation. Volunteers joined forces with Mayor Donnie Tuck to bring positive change to the lives of 250 students at AWE Bassette Elementary School in Hampton, VA.
The Packs on Backs and Tools for Schools program took center stage. Backpacks filled with essential school supplies were hand-delivered to the students. The supplies will lighten families’ financial burden and equip students with the tools they need to embark on their educational journey.
Kindling Hope Nationwide
The Packs on Backs program aims to reach approximately 3,285 students across 11 schools nationwide. From California to Washington, D.C., WeLoveU is weaving positivity and support into the student’s educational journey.

Voices of Appreciation
Principal Spain’s words reflected the volunteers’ organized dedication to the event. “I have to say you guys are really organized, from the email preparation to the setup here today and the awesome volunteers that all have a smile on their faces. It has been a wonderful experience, and we’re glad to have you here with us.”
Mayor Donnie Tuck’s perspective illuminated the resounding impact. “Bassett Elementary is one of our 14 Title One elementary schools, which means that many of our children in these schools are on free-reduced lunch. If you think about inflation with higher prices for rent, utilities, clothing, food, and other necessities, sometimes it’s a challenge for parents to provide the things their children need to be ready for school.”
A Parent’s Gratitude
Wilson Woolcock, a parent of one of the students, echoed the sentiment. “We’re just really thankful to the Chairwoman for coming and setting up the stands today. This morning, they came out. They were so happy and so joyful to give back to the kids. That’s something we see lacking in the community, that they care. It’s just a breath of fresh air and shines a light on the world for us to receive backpacks for the kids and the families. We thank her so much for her care and concern even for us. We thank you.”
Creating Positive Ripples
A simple act of kindness can be a positive change that touches lives. The Packs on Backs and Tools for Schools program is a testament to WeLoveU’s commitment to quality education and communities. Volunteers are sowing seeds of hope and empowerment, one backpack at a time.

This was such a fun event! The families, students, and teachers were so thankful for the backpacks and school supplies. It’s so cool to see that donations are happening across the U.S. I can’t wait to see how the efforts of the WeLoveU foundation are positively contributing to the education and well-being of the students who have received a backpack.
