Over 60 Volunteers Join Forces for Earth Week Initiative in Miami

Over 60 volunteers gathered at Coral Cove Beach on Sunday, April 23, 2023, to close out Earth Week with a beach clean-up. The event was part of the Earth Week webinar series launched by the International WeLoveU Foundation and Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast. It’s the group’s second year doing this. The initiative aimed to educate and inspire students to take care of the planet by organizing a series of webinars and a beach clean-up event.

The webinar series, streamed in schools across Palm Beach & the Treasure Coast from Monday, April 17 to Friday, April 23, featured a diverse lineup of speakers who shared their expertise with over 6,000 students and teachers from various middle and high schools. Among the speakers were Junior Achievement Elementary Director Erica Henn, Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Emily Sirmont, FAU Graduate Sydney Bell, Loggerhead STEM education specialist Jordan Ferre, and Melissa Wagner and Kaleigh Fix with Reef Institute. The speakers’ talks aimed to inspire the students to take action and become more aware of the role they can play in protecting our planet.

The beach clean-up event concluded the Earth Week Initiative, where students, teachers, and parents were encouraged to take action locally. The aim of the event and the clean-up was to encourage investment in our planet and its environment. The event helped raise awareness about the environment and the role that each person can play in protecting it.

The Earth Week Initiative was a huge success, with the participation of professionals from different fields and backgrounds providing students with valuable insights on how to protect and preserve the environment. The event and the clean-up were instrumental in making a positive impact on the students who participated in the initiative, encouraging them to take action and become more conscious of their role in preserving the planet.
