On Sunday, November 13, 2022, about 70 WeLoveU Foundation volunteers partnered with Power Home Remodeling and Boston Parks and Recreation to clean Blackstone and Franklin Squares. Together, volunteers removed 156 bags of yard waste, weighing a total of 6,240 lbs., and three bags of trash, weighing 150 lbs.

About Blackstone and Franklin Squares

Blackstone and Franklin Squares are located in the heart of the City of Boston, with residences, hospitals and schools nearby. Local residents traverse the park each day, commuting to and from work or walking their dogs. It is a vital pathway connecting the people of South Boston together. As autumn progresses, the green grass is buried under fallen leaves and, unfortunately, becomes mixed with various types of waste.

Working to Clean Our Parks

The volunteers began cleaning the park at 10:30 a.m., equipped with rakes, shovels, brooms, and trash bags supplied by Boston Parks & Recreation. Waste findings included leaves, plastic straws, bottle caps, candy wrappers, and glass bottles.

Volunteers worked joyfully together, despite the rainy conditions. Arbrenne, an employee at Power Home Remodeling, expressed, “I’m having a really great time. It’s raining, but there are so many people here! We’re all raking leaves and making the park prettier today. It feels really good to be with my coworkers and friends, helping out the community.”

Morgan, another employee of Power Home Remodeling, recognized WeLoveU’s efforts in the community can make a big difference nationwide. “Volunteering with the WeLoveU Foundation is so important because they do such great work across the country. Today, I’m joining them in cleaning up a park here in the City of Boston. It’s important to me to do something good for the community.”

A Cleaner World is a Happier World

This cleanup was conducted as a part of WeLoveU’s Clean WORLD Movement with the purpose of achieving a clean and healthy environment for all people worldwide. The WeLoveU volunteers will continue to carry out environmental protection efforts with excitement and dedication.
