On November 21, 2021, the International WeLoveU Foundation volunteers united with Power Home Remodeling employee volunteers to clean Indian Creek Trail in Greenbelt, MD. With both groups combined, the group numbered nearly 35 volunteers. Also in attendance was Greenbelt Councilwoman Kristen Weaver, who was recently elected. She learned about the Indian Creek Trail cleanup while reading her community newspaper.

Teaming Up With Power Home Remodeling to Clean Indian Creek Trail
Indian Creek Trail is a well-known destination among Greenbelt residents. It’s frequented for spending time with family and friends, hiking, and exercising. At this popular location, the WeLoveU Foundation and Power Home Remodeling volunteers teamed up to clean. Despite the chilly weather, they thoroughly combed the trail, looking for trash. On the same day, WeLoveU and Power teamed up to clean areas in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Mckenzie Tebeck, the customer development mentor with Power Home Remodeling, described his experience at the cleanup. “It was an incredible experience. Everybody was working in unity. I decided to join today’s event because the WeLoveU Foundation aligns with the same values that Power shares to promote positive change across the globe. It was a no-brainer to partner with them for the event today.”

Councilwoman Weaver also had a few things to say to the volunteers. “I thank everyone for coming and helping clean up our Indian Creek area. Everybody was really friendly and well-organized.” She continued, “Thank you so much for coming and cleaning up. I think it’s a really important thing to do. I wish we could do a cleanup and not find any trash, but until that day, I would be happy to come out again.”
After cleaning Indian Creek Trail, the volunteers transitioned to Hanover Parkway, cleaning near Eleanor Roosevelt High School. In total, the WeLoveU Foundation and Power Home Remodeling collected 45 bags of trash and four tires from the trail and Hanover Parkway. After the cleanup, the volunteers enjoyed a sponsored lunch provided by the Greenbelt TGI Fridays.
