The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation (WeLoveU) hosted a street cleanup on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in Riverside, CA, at the intersection of Jurupa Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard. Around 150 volunteers traveled from six WeLoveU chapters across California, including Los Angeles, Cerritos, Lancaster, West Covina, Sunland, and Riverside. In total, volunteers collected about 5,400 lbs., or 2.5 tons of garbage. The volunteers united for a common cause of environmental preservation and community beautification. WeLoveU volunteers partnered with Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful. Together, WeLoveU and Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful set out to provide a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient community for the people of Riverside.
Volunteers armed themselves with gloves, trash bags, and eagerness to restore cleanliness and environmental sustainability. Councilman Steve Hemenway joined WeLoveU onsite, saying, “I felt a sense of care and love toward the community from the volunteers. We often function in a space where we care about ourselves more than we care about those around us, but the volunteers inspired folks to live selflessly and care for others. It was just remarkable.”
Sharing Love Through Good Deeds
Van Buren Boulevard looked and felt much cleaner after the cleanup. Volunteers were happy to see the result. One volunteer said, “There was so much trash on the roads. I wondered how people must have felt. I’m happy that we cleaned this location for the community. I believe people will love it and be inspired to take care of it.”
WeLoveU plans to do more volunteer work in Riverside to continue beautifying the community. Connie Librenjak, executive director of Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful, thanked volunteers, saying, “I’d like to thank the entire WeLoveU Foundation led by Chairwoman Zahng for what you’re doing here in Riverside. It means so much, and we appreciate what you do. Thank you very much. We love you!” She also presented the WeLoveU Foundation with a Certificate of Appreciation. This cleanup was a part of WeLoveU’s Clean WORLD Movement, which aims to create a healthier and happier environment for all.

Such amazing work. A clean environment is a happy environment. I’m sure the residents of that community are very pleased. I hope it brings more awareness so that everyone feels responsible for keeping their environment free from litter. One small action can have a big impact! I’m thankful for the We Love You foundation to do such a great work to increase pride in one’s community.
