On Monday, June 19, 2023, the International WeLoveU Foundation and Kraft Heinz hosted a cleanup at Huckleberry Park in Chicago, IL. The park is 0.31 acres and has a playground, swings, slides, and climbing elements.

Monday Morning Cleanup

Despite the cleanup happening on a Monday, the number of participants grew to 144 volunteers. Among the group, 62 are Kraft Heinz corporate volunteers, 76 from WeLoveU, and a few from the neighborhood. “It has been an amazing opportunity and experience to work with the WeLoveU team,” said Shaneen Jackson, diversity, inclusion, and belonging for Kraft Heinz. “I’m looking forward to multiple and more opportunities to work with WeLoveU.”

The residents living near Huckleberry Park appreciated the surprise weekday cleanup. The volunteers filled up 39 trash bags and planted 134 plants and flowers. Huckleberry Park’s appearance brightened up with each volunteer’s help. The cleanup combined community spirit and love for the environment.

The Huckleberry Park cleanup is part of WeLoveU’s Clean WORLD Movement program. “WORLD” is an acronym for water, oxygen, region, life, and descendants. These five elements are the foundation of a healthy environment that WeLoveU aims to protect and nourish, like a mother’s love.
