Over 100 volunteers from the International WeLoveU Foundation joined forces with Antunes for a cleanup on Thursday, May 11, 2023. The two groups focused on cleaning around the Gary-Keyhoe Pond Reservoir in Carol Stream, IL. The 140-acre territory is a major facility for stormwater management. Over time, the property became littered with trash. Hosting cleanups at locations like the reservoir will help preserve and enhance the waterways. The joint endeavor removed over 40 bags of trash, including truck tires, large signboards, and countless bottles.

Three Years & Counting

The collaboration between WeLoveU and Antunes marks the third consecutive year in which these organizations have worked together to clean up the Gary-Kehoe Pond Reservoir. In the past, Antunes had consistently dedicated weekends to this noble cause, with around 10-15 employees actively participating. However, since partnering with the WeLoveU Foundation, the cleanup operations have been scheduled on work days, resulting in a surge in volunteer turnout. On May 11, 2023, 120 individuals volunteered their time and efforts to the cause, marking the highest participation rate achieved to date.

The presence and support of esteemed local figures, including Carol Stream Mayor Frank Saverino, Engineering Secretary Ann Santucci, and Assistant Village Engineer Adam Frederick, further emphasized the significance of the event. Mayor Saverino expressed his deep appreciation for the WeLoveU Foundation’s commitment to their community’s well-being and the remarkable passion they exhibited during the cleanup. He said such acts of love and dedication would inspire other prominent corporations to step forward and take proactive measures to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Chicagoland area.

The Clean WORLD Movement, spearheaded by WeLoveU, aims to foster environmental awareness and engage communities worldwide in hands-on activities to protect and restore their local ecosystems.
