Amazon and WeLoveU Plant Trees, Paint a Playground & More in NJ Park

In the current day and age, planet Earth needs to have pure, unpolluted, carbon-free air. On Sunday, May 7, 2023, about 150 International WeLoveU Foundation and Latinos at Amazon ERG volunteers came together for a fantastic event to accomplish this goal.
For a second year, the WeLoveU Foundation partnered with Amazon’s ERG, Latinos at Amazon. The foundation organized a tree planting and beautification event at Flagtown Park in Hillsborough, NJ, for the teams to participate. The tree planting activity is part of WeLoveU Mom’s Garden Project, which aims to plant 1 million trees by 2026 to help achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and create a sustainable world to keep the earth green.
In 2023, WeLoveU’s goal is to plant 155,000 trees worldwide, equivalent to absorbing 50,000 pounds of carbon dioxide yearly. To advance this mission, volunteers split into teams to tackle various tasks such as tree planting, flower planting, street cleaning, and painting.
During the event, Jessica LoGreco, WeLoveU’s program manager, and Ben Wang, Amazon’s senior operations manager, were asked by a news network, “What was the goal for the event? How many occasions have WeLoveU held events like this? Why did Amazon partner with WeLoveU for this?” They responded that WeLoveU holds about 100 events a year, that they have worked together before, and that it is crucial to work together as partners to make the event possible for the community and make an impact.
During the Mom’s Garden Project event, volunteers were joyful and smiled while sanding down the monkey bars on the playground. Furthermore, kids of all ages were helping paint swing sets, planting trees, and laying or raking mulch. Other volunteers worked hard hand in hand and painted the benches and other parts of the playground in bright colors.
Local and state officials, including Senator Andrew Zwicker, Mayor of Hillsborough Shawn Lipani, and the Commissioner of Somerset County Paul Drake, participated in the event. They planted trees together and took a photo together.
Commissioner Paul Drake said, “Planting a tree is the most optimistic thing you can do because you are planting for the future. Besides environmental benefits, it is a promise of tomorrow.” Also, Senator Andrew Zwicker said, “I had to come to the event though I did not know what WeLoveU was.” After the event, Senator Andrew Zwicker stated that he would love to work with WeLoveU.
Overall, this was a fantastic event, resulting in WeLoveU receiving proclamations and a citation. Also, Latinos at Amazon donated $10,000 in support of the WeLoveU Foundation. Ultimately, the event brought back heartwarming memories about growing up with your mom and helping her when needed. Finally, everyone cooperated harmoniously to create a peaceful and happy environment for the community.

Wow what a great turn out! It was such a perfect day to get together and plant trees. Everything was so well organized and everyone was able to help in the process of successfully planting trees. Thanks to WeLoveU for hosting such an event and Amazon for donating so that more of these kinds of events can continue to be hosted by WeLoveU world wide to save our plant! Woohoo WeLoveU! Keep up the great work!
Wow 150 volunteers? That is incredible. It never ceases to amaze me as to how much work We ❤️ U puts in for the community. Always taking time out of their schedules to make this world a better place. This takes a lot of hard work and effort. Not only did the secure volunteerism to beautify this park but they were able to raise $10,000 to continue to benefit the foundations efforts. Great job 👏🏾.
Totally agree! This is great to see 🙂
This event was really fun. I’m glad i was able to participate and learn how to plant a tree. Look forward to the next one. Good job guys!
I loved volunteering for this event! It feels good to know that through many small efforts (planted 50 trees) an even greater goal is being accomplished (1 million trees). I can’t wait to join the next one!
Being a WeLoveU volunteer never disappoints ! 🙂 Once again, I was so happy to spend my Sunday morning into the afternoon with such a passionate group of people. Seeing the genuine support from Amazon and local Officials also gave me greater pride and appreciation toward WeLoveU!
I will continue to keep a keen eye on all the continued progress and great impacts WLU makes, internationally 🙂
Such fantastic event.
Really enjoyed the fun, smiles and the impact that was displayed in plating the trees and beautifying the park.
I just wanted to highlight what the Commissioner commented, “Planting a tree is… planting for the future.” Well said! I couldn’t agree more! Fantastic job to all the volunteers from WLU Foundation, Amazon team, and all those involved behind the scenes to make this event successful!
It is so rewarding to be able to give back to the community, and there is no better way than doing it by joining the Weloveu foundation. It’s not only the action but also the heart that’s put into it. I could see the happiness in the volunteers’ faces, and also the joy of sharing together as well as uniting efforts for a good cause. Thank you so much to the Weloveu foundation! and also thank you Amazon volunteers!! Such a great team!
I was there and really had a great time. It’s great to see different organizations working together and making a difference for our environment. Also, it’s quite inspiring to see so many young people sacrificing their Sunday to take on something so noble! I was thankful to be part of this effort and look forward to joining many more.
Thank you for your efforts and hard work, WeLoveU!
This looks like such a beautiful event! I am looking forward to joining a future tree planting event.
