On Sunday, April 16, 2023, the International WeLoveU Foundation held its 574th worldwide blood drive event at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The event was a major success, with 1,148 pints of blood collected, exceeding the goal and potentially saving up to 3,444 lives.

The WeLoveU Foundation partnered with several organizations, including the L.A. Bowl, WSS, Cedars-Sinai, and Lifestream, to address critical hospital blood shortages. The foundation’s dedicated volunteers, donors, and supporters came together to donate love and blood, directly impacting the shortage.

The day of the event was filled with excitement, with crowds of people wearing yellow WeLoveU polos and smiling faces filling the American Airlines Plaza between the SoFi Stadium and Youtube Theater. Cheerleaders and the Youtube Live stage added to the festive atmosphere, making donors feel comfortable and appreciated.

Several government officials also attended the event to show their support, including California State Senator Dave Min, State Senator Josh Newman, Assemblymember Tina McKinnor, and a representative from the office of Janice Hahn, Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Mayor Butts and Councilmembers of Inglewood also showed their support for the event.

Professional athletes and hall of famers also stopped by to show their support, including Metta Sandiford-Artest, Andre Ethier, Eric Dickerson, and Derek Fisher.
