On June 12, 2022, International WeLoveU Foundation volunteers, Murrieta Mayor Jonathan Ingram, and Councilmember Lori Stone cleaned Los Alamos Park. A four-footed supporter was also on-site to encourage the volunteers — Rusty — Mayor Ingram’s dog! Many families, including the council, who rolled up their sleeves to participate in the cleanup, love and use the park.
Everyone diligently combed Los Alamos park with a fine-tooth comb from start to finish. Luckily, the group discovered hidden trash within the tidy park’s limits. For instance, they found cigarette buds mixed in the playground’s woodchips. Amongst the most surprising things removed from Los Alamos park were a broken television and rusted and broken sports equipment.

The WeLoveU Foundation volunteers thank the City of Murrieta for its continued partnership and support. The Los Alamos Sports Park cleanup highlights WeLoveU’s environmental protection initiative, the Clean WORLD Movement. Around the world, about 267,000 volunteers in more than 59 countries have participated in the endeavor to care for the planet. Volunteering with WeLoveU means sharing love and caring for others above ourselves, starting in our community.
Volunteers in Murrieta weren’t the only ones helping their community on June 12. Cleanups simultaneously occurred in California, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, New York, Texas, Utah, and Washington. With World Environment Day on June 5, the string of cleanups reminds us to honor our ecosystem wherever we are.
“WeLoveU’s environmental cleanups and tree-planting events are a boots-on-the-ground approach to lessen the amount of litter and pollution in our land, air, and waterways,” explained Duane Ford, executive director of WeLoveU. “This year, too, our volunteers are excited to share the passion for sustainable efforts with like-minded individuals and companies as we work together to help restore our planet.”
