The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation and Antunes Partner for Second Year in Reservoir Cleanup

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, the International WeLoveU Foundation and Antunes, a manufacturing corporation, joined the City of Carol Stream to clean the Gary-Kehoe Pond Reservoir. Around 30 WeLoveU volunteers and 55 Antunes team members removed waste from surrounding areas.

Spending the Afternoon Volunteering

The Antunes team members spent their afternoon differently on this weekday. They spent their volunteer time off with the WeLoveU Foundation for a few hours. From 2:30 p.m., the employees, ready with trash bags, pickers, and bright smiles, split into teams with WeLoveU volunteers.

Everyone split into groups to tackle cleaning a section of the 140-acre territory. Collectively, each person dedicated their time to picking up the litter around the reservoir. What they found was enough to fill up 65 bags of trash. Plastic bottles, face masks, and soda cans were some of the trending items scattered around the green scenery. The territory is a major facility for stormwater management. Keeping the reservoir clean is essential to preserve our waterways and reduce plastic pollution.

Antune’s Chief Purpose Officer Jane Bullock conveyed her excitement by thanking the WeLoveU Foundation for their continuous effort in embarking on the same mission to keep the environment clean. She thanked WeLoveU’s Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah for organizing the Clean WORLD Movement.

“We encourage our volunteers to invite their neighbors and friends to our clean-ups in hopes of promoting a culture of caring for others and consideration for the environment,” said Marisol Almaraz, Antunes inside sales coordinator and WeLoveU volunteer.

This is also not the first time WeLoveU and Antunes have collaborated to better the reservoir. In August of last year, 40 WeLoveU volunteers and 20 Antunes employees united to clean the Gary-Kehoe Reservoir. Removing debris, they filled more than 25 garbage bags. The WeLoveU Foundation in Illinois will continue collaborating and fostering relationships with neighboring corporations to sustain a clean environment.

The partnership with Antunes was part of the Clean WORLD Movement. To learn more about WeLoveU’s environmental initiative, visit us here.
