On November 21, 2021, about 50 WeLoveU volunteers gathered in Chester, PA, for a joint cleanup with Power Home Remodeling. The volunteer service was one of six cleanups happening on the same day in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. The WeLoveU Foundation is spreading positivity through volunteerism and raising awareness about the climate gap in partnership with Power Home Remodeling. Additional cleanups will take place in Florida and Georgia next month.

Power Home Remodeling and WeLoveU Give Back to Chester

WeLoveU and Power Home Remodeling volunteers met at Chester High School. With Power’s headquarters in Chester, the cleanup was a special way to give back to the community. Before assigning teams and cleaning locations, everyone enjoyed coffee and snacks. Then, the Chester cleanup commenced at 10 a.m. and wrapped up at noon. Cleaning crews focused on removing trash around school grounds, sidewalks, and near the train tracks.  

Some of the litter was hard to reach because it was buried underneath weeds. To access it, volunteers used a weed whacker  and other tools. Assembly lines formed to move trash from the school steps to the street where the city will collect it on Monday morning. While cleaning, residents waved and honked their horns at the teams as a sign of appreciation. Much to the volunteer’s surprise, a few neighbors walked up to them to thank them. One resident said it’s been 20 years since this part of town has been cleaned.

The Chester residents weren’t the only ones moved by the WeLoveU volunteers’ passion while cleaning. A Power Home Remodeling employee said, “I have never worked with people who were so happy to serve.” Anna, who coordinates Power Home Remodeling’s special events, said, “I like the way that members speak to each other,” and said she enjoyed working with WeLoveU. In total, the group filled 50 trash bags in two hours. The cleanup in partnership is part of WeLoveU’s Clean WORLD Movement, an environmental initiative WeLoveU has been leading since 2009.
